It’s Officially Christmas

We made it to Christmas! Today marks the official 25 days until Christmas. Which means you can now watch the ABC Family 25 Day Countdown or whatever the heck it’s called and not feel weird about it.

There are many things I miss about New England during Christmas that we can’t get here in California.

1. Snow Days

When you were a kid in school, snow days were so amazing they even made a movie about it. When you’re an adult, they are amazing because that means no work. But not so amazing when you have to chip the 500 pounds of snow off your car the next morning. At least I don’t have to deal with that nonsense.

2. Hot Cocoa that doesn’t make you sweat.

Nothing better than snuggling up on the couch during a snow storm with a fire going, your pets by your side, and a delicious cup of hot cocoa. If I drink hot cocoa right now, I’ll sweat considering it’s still in the 70’s and 80’s here in Long Beach.

3. The bitter cold

I don’t know anybody that actually enjoys the bitter cold, but when it’s 75 degrees every day with no chance of rain, and you find it weird when it’s even a little bit windy, you start to miss the seasons. It can be a little boring at times. There’s no typical conversation like, “Hey what’s the weather going to be like tomorrow?” with the answer, “Oh I don’t know, lemme check.” There’s also no creepy men asking you about the weather as a pick-up line either.

4. Boots

Besides for a few days of the season, it’s too hot to wear boots. And I miss them dearly.

But on the bright side, while you guys are shoveling out your driveways, I’ll be at the beach getting my tan on.

Let the Christmas festivities begin.
